Message Status Indicators in Nova Comm

Nova Comm’s message status indicators help you track what’s happening in real time. Here’s how to read them like a pro.

Ever wonder if someone actually saw your message or if it’s just floating in the void? Nova Comm’s message status indicators help you track what’s happening in real time. Here’s how to read them like a pro.


Message States


🕒 Sending

  • Your message is still making its way to Nova Comm.

  • A gray clock means it’s thinking—this usually clears fast if your connection is solid.


Sent

  • A single gray checkmark = Message successfully sent!

  • It’s officially on Nova Comm’s servers, waiting to be delivered.


✓✓ Delivered

  • Double gray checkmarks = It’s landed on their device.

  • They haven’t opened it yet, but it's there.


✓✓ Read

  • Double blue checkmarks = They saw it.

  • Hover over the message to see the exact time they read it.


Read Receipts: Who Can See What?


How It Works

  • Read receipts are on by default.

  • They update instantly when someone opens your message.

  • Works seamlessly across all devices—whether you're on desktop, mobile, or web.


Want More Privacy?

Don’t want people knowing when you’ve read their messages? No problem.

🔧 Settings > Privacy > Read Receipts

  • Everyone – Anyone can see when you’ve read their messages.

  • Contacts Only – Only people you’ve added can see when you’ve read.

  • Nobody – You’re off the grid. (But you won’t see others’ read receipts either!)


Group Chats

  • You’ll see read indicators only when everyone in the group has seen your message.

  • Tap or click the message to check individual read statuses.

  • Member avatars will appear next to your message once they've seen it.


Last Seen & Online Status


What You See:

  • Active now – They’re online right this second.

  • Last seen today at 10:30 AM – They were last online at that time.

  • Last seen yesterday at 8:45 PM – You get the idea.

  • Offline - We don't even know how long they've been offline anymore...


Control Who Sees Your Activity

🔧 Settings > Privacy > Last Seen

  • Everyone – Anyone on Nova Comm can see your last seen.

  • Contacts Only – Only people you’ve added can see.

  • Nobody – You’re invisible.


Troubleshooting


Common Issues & Quick Fixes


🕒 Stuck on Sending?

  • Check your internet connection.

  • Try force-closing and reopening Nova Comm.

  • Check the server status at tech.xxavvgroup.com/status/nas.


Messages Not Marking as Read?

  • Make sure read receipts are enabled.

  • Double-check your privacy settings.

  • Ensure Nova Comm has proper notification and app permissions.


Delayed Status Updates?

  • It usually fixes itself. Try pulling down to refresh the chat.

  • If it persists, check your network connection.


Connection Requirements

  • A stable internet connection (duh).

  • Minimum 0.5 Mbps upload/download speed.

  • WebSocket support must be enabled.

  • Supported browsers: Chrome 80+, Firefox 75+, Safari 13+.
